Glass drop strip
Even seemingly minor details can determine the final effect of finishing or renovating a bathroom. When it comes to the shower enclosure, glass drop strips should be considered one such critical element, since bathrooms today are dominated by walk-in enclosures and drains positioned at floor level with a very gentle slope. Traditional shower trays are on the decline. A glass drop strip is used precisely in such enclosures, making their fixing easier and, above all, providing the correct slope value thanks to which water efficiently reaches the drain. They therefore could not be missing from the Balneo shop's range, where we try to meet the needs of all bathroom owners. Every one of our customers can be sure that our range includes a glass drop strip that will perfectly meet their expectations. We invite you to take a look at our exceptional offerings!
A glass drop strip as a finishing element of a modern shower enclosure
A glass drop strip, often also referred to as a glass-edge or under-glass strip, is a specific type of mounting profile used in modern walk-in shower enclosures, that is, ones without a tray and usually fitted with a linear drain. These narrow metal strips feature a gentle slope and are installed directly at the point where the floor meets the shower enclosure's glass panel, resting along its edge.
Thanks to their gentle slope and gravity, glass drop strips are designed to allow water to drain away over the shower floor and to prevent moisture from settling at the edges. Thanks to them, in threshold-free walk-in enclosures, water also does not spread onto the rest of the bathroom floor, which should remain dry, preventing possible accidents. Glass drop strips create a tight barrier against moisture, while at the same time guaranteeing a very attractive join between the glass panel and the floor. In addition, they gently stabilise the position of the glass panel.
Glass drop strips – the key choice of the correct side
As the name suggests, glass drop strips are installed in the bathroom along the edges where the enclosure's glass panels are positioned, not along walls or the further part of the floor without a slope. Before choosing a strip, attention should be paid to which side it is meant to be installed on.
Right glass drop strip
As the name suggests, the right glass drop strip is used on edges located on the right-hand side. Importantly, this means the right side when looking towards the drain. Of course, such a strip can only be placed there if the enclosure's glass panel is also fitted on that side.
Left glass drop strip
The left glass drop strip is the mirror image of the right one and cannot replace it, because the slope runs in the opposite direction to that strip. In other words, the left strip is placed on the left-hand side, along the edge of the enclosure with the shower glass panel, again looking towards the drain.
Left and right glass drop strips can form sets together with front strips positioned at the drain, as well as floor and wall strips. It all depends on the design of the shower enclosure, specifically on which side the drain, wall, enclosure panel or the remaining part of the floor are located.
Glass drop strips with an interesting design and carefully considered colours
When choosing glass drop strips, their visual aspects, and above all their colours, should not be underestimated. Balneo's designs stand out with a universal, minimalist look and refined colours – timeless ones that commonly appear in bathrooms. For example, black glass drop strips excellently break up the white that dominates in almost every bathroom.
The gun metal and Inox colour variants are very fashionable, timeless shades – a proven choice with no risk. A gold glass drop strip can give the room a somewhat luxurious feel, especially when other gold decorative details are present in the bathroom. Copper strips also have their fans, and are suitable not only for bathrooms kept in an industrial style.
A glass drop strip cut to length – a choice for every shower enclosure
We can offer our glass drop strips to customers in two lengths – 120 cm or 170 cm. Of course, shower enclosure sizes vary more widely than that, which is why we made sure our products can be very easily cut to size without the help of specialist tools.
